Description
Addiction has no respect. Addiction doesn’t care about age, income, or ethnic background. It doesn’t even care about religion—especially Christianity. Addiction exists solely to kill, steal, and destroy, fitting the Biblical description of Satan himself. In the same period that secular Recovery has helped millions of people, the Christian community has been the equivalent of an Ostrich. Tens of thousands of young people die annually from drug overdose, families are destroyed, and good Christians are rendered ineffective in carrying the love of Christ to a hurting world. While some churches have woken up to the reality of the problem, the body of Christ is still a sleeping giant that has barely hit the snooze button.
Some still think it’s impossible for a Christian to be an addict. It’s time to wake up! What Christians need to know about addiction is that God provided the answer in the Bible, and it’s not one size fits all. One Jesus, one Gospel, and one solution for addictions. ‘Two out of three isn’t bad, right?’ Tell that to the mother of a dead son or daughter, one who relied on the sleeping Church for an answer. It’s not good enough, it never will be. We must do better, and we can.
Seven Things Christians Need to Know About Addiction explores the Biblical, Historical, and Spiritual solutions in a unique and effective manner. It introduces some key elements of Addiction Recovery that have never before been published. All people need to know the truth, because it will not only set you free, but it could help save the life of an addict. It can also open doors to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with people in secular recovery, but only if you know how. “Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold” (Proverbs 3:13-14).
